Personally, I think holidays have become way too commercial. Which is why my husband and I focus our holiday traditions on the true meaning of the holiday, be it Easter or Christmas. This April, instead of giving Easter baskets, we made baskets of canned food with our kids and took them to the food bank. Of course, we still had Easter Fun, like going to Grammy and Pop’s house for dinner, and getting new Easter outfits. But I think it’s important to teach my kids that holidays are better spent celebrating their true meanings alongside loved ones, instead of spent thinking about material things that you did or didn’t receive.
