My older brother went through college on the same plan that I did.  Two summer jobs each summer, a job and a half during the school year,  and as many student loans as we could get.  When I graduated I set out to pay off my loans as fast as I could but was having a very difficult time and was late in my payments several times.   My brother did not seem to have that problem and always had money in his pockets.  His secret was that he had done a student loan bill consolidation.  His monthly payments were therefore much less than mine.
